Reserve space for cow shelters: BJP corporator tells BMC
Cow is considered holy in India. She has religious importance in several religions practiced in our country. A law banning cow slaughter has also been passed recently. There’s penalty and imprisonment for slaughtering cows.
The city might be short of open spaces and parking lots but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants the BMC to reserve space for ‘gaushalas’ (cow shelters) in every civic ward.
The bizarre proposal — moved by BJP corporator Ram Barot — comes in the wake of the Maharashtra government’s move to ban cow slaughter. The BJP corporator has asked the BMC to reserve plots in each ward for cow shelters in the city’s new Development Plan (DP). Read More…
